The Mosaic Alliance is sponsoring another Origins conference this week that I am blessed to be able to take part in. This will be my fourth Origins conference and I am very excited to see how God will continue to stretch my iminagtion and deepen my heart. It was at Origins 2004 that God birthed the Mosaic Arlington vision into my heart. It was at Origins 2005 that we were commissioned as a Mosaic Alliance church plant. Origins 2006 found us connecting with a very dear friend (Greg Borchert). And only God knows how Origins 2007 will bless our lives.
Here are few desires that I have for the week-
*spend some quality time getting to know my new friend Nathan Laughlin better. Nathan is interested in planting a church (maybe a Mosaic community) in Vancouver Canada. We will be having lots of time to share our lives and dreams together
*embracing Mosaic friends from literally around the world. We will have friends from New York, Florida, Michigan, Washington, England and China. It will be a great crowd to draw energy and excitement from.
*learning more about the missional life. Erwin, Alex, Eric and the team always do a great job at “bringing it” when it comes to quickening our spirits to follow Christ into the unknown.
*Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Arizona Diamondbacks. On Tuesday night a group of us are heading to LA Dodger Stadium to watch a baseball game. Friends, Baseball, Hot Dogs and LA weather…ummm good!
*In-And-Out Burgers. (There is really nothing more to say here, but for the ignorant imagine God personally making you a burger. That’s “In and Out.”)
*Seeing friends from the past and maybe even a relative or two. I invested a few years of my life in Los Angeles and still have family out there. My trips out west usually find me spending some time with them.
*Friday “Fun” Day. Each year at Origins we always take Friday and make it a “tourist” day. We will visit Malibu beach, drive the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway), stroll down Rodeo drive in Beverly Hills, take pictures of the Hollywood sign, visit some sights in LA and end the day watching the sun go down over the Pacific as we eat at Gladstones. It’s a tradition, and an exciting one at that.
Pray for us as we journey out west this week. And if you ever have the time, energy and money come go with us for a week of learning, friendship and fun!
