God’s Will

There is so much written on God’s will for our lives, so I don’t intend to shock anyone with anything that is to be written here. But I do think we place far too much value on what we will “do” than rather on who we are becoming. I am not so sure God is that interested in letting us in on “His will for our lives” but I am for certain that He is interested in crafting us into people of love, forgiveness, acceptance, patience, kindness, faith and hope.

It’s amazing how much energy I have put into trying to find out the “next steps” for my life (usually translated to some materialistic option or big ministry event for “Him”) but I have placed little effort into becoming a more holy man, a more devoted husband and a more patient father.

As our community studies through the book of Ruth (we are in chapter 2 this week) we see God speak to us in a very clear way that if we would simply remain faithful (in the development of our character) then God will promote us in the right season. I pray I can live this truth out in a way that would allow others to follow.

I completely understand what you mean by this post. I think I have also focused too much on the steps and ministry events that I have never taken the time to become a better man of God.

I have slowly realized this and started working on it. Thanks for the thought to keep me on the right track.
