The Weight of the Future

There hasn’t been a time in recent memory that we have had some much potential staring us (both in my family and in our faith community) in the face.

We are on the verge of some really cool things for God and others. And yet for every exciting thing that could happen, there is the risk of knowing these things could fail just as easily. Changing the future weighs heavily on us as leaders doesn’t it? And yet Christ reminds us that His burden is light. I am not sure I truly understand that verse just yet, but maybe it simply means that “succeed or fail” in these future endeavors, everything will be alright. It will all be good because as we move forward He not only goes with us, but He is already there. And where He is, is always a great place to be!

I have recently heard people around me echoing the same excess of potential in their lives right now. I feel that sense too. It’s good, it’s powerful.

Did you mean the “my burden is light”..that verse? I look at that and remember I’m a clay pot vessel. yet God moves and works through a simple clay pot. If we attempt to do things under our own strenght, most things will be super overwhelming. Instead, maybe we are just willing and through us HE does the work. Can’t be too heavy if we aren’t doing the lifting alone. “I move through you”. Just something to chew on.

The idea that He is already there makes sense to me when i remember that, my desire to bring change, is reflective of Gods eternal desire. In this way I’m merely on board with Him…not so much leading my own revolution.

As leaders, we have every reason to be thankful for this truth, you know?

Perhaps it means that there are more moments of success than we notice because we’re still learning to see the way God does.
